Historical Restoration

Advanced IAQ Care’s professional cleaning methods in historical restoration can uncover the beauty, and intricacies of historic project with safe cleaning. Advanced Dry Ice Blasting leaves no secondary waste streams, and uses no dangerous harsh chemicals or and abrasive processes to the substrate.

Advanced IAQ Care’s historic restoration services utilize several blasting media, for a wide variety of cleaning applications. Satisfied customers are using Advanced IAQ for removal of the smoke damage and adhesive, reversal of the effects of aging and much more. Advanced has many projects where our cleaning process has been implemented in historic church restoration projects, statues, and many more. One of our most recent projects was the restoration of a 18th century farmhouse in Basking Ridge NJ, where dry ice was used to restore all the beams to their original beauty. We also recently saved an 18th century playhouse The Croton on the Hudson.

Advanced’s proceses are the best cleaning method for restoration projects due to the need for a non-abrasive and chemical-free process in most restoration work. The goal in restoration work is to restore a structure to its original state, and to uncover the underlying surfaces of the structure without causing additional damage. Advanced will achieve the desired cleaning results, without damaging the substrate. Often, layers of paint and years of aging will hide the original detail on the structure. Advanced can uncover this intricate detail in a safe efficient manner without compromising the structure itself.

The architects in charge of restoration projects will often address that chemicals, and/or abrasive cleaning not to be used. Chemicals can soak into stone, statues and marble, and abrasive cleaning will scratch, destroy the integrity,or scar the substrate. Again this will potentially alter the integrity of the surface the restores are looking to preserve. Advanced’s cleaning methods are non abrasive and do not incorporate chemicals, making our process ideal for restoring monuments, or statues.

Dr Petr Siegl said it best when asked about the tecnology of dry ice blasting in Prague historical restoration. “Dry ice is much more sensative and efficient than older technologies. It is very soft and delicate. In statues, it is important to preserve the age of the statue and its quality. As far as on the Prague Bridge with centuries of sediment, dry ice cleaned the best, compared to any technology, with a defragmentation nozzle.”

The absence of a secondary waste stream is another attractive aspect of contracting Advanced IAQ Care for restoration work. Everything is carefully contained. Our process is environmentally safe and highly recommended. Its unfortunate that there are still cleaning methods that hurt the environment.
